Belagavi: Belagavi North MLA Anil Benake has given a statement that he would not allow legal slaughterhouses to function in his constituency since they were opposed to the principles of the BJP. The previous government had proposed to establish legal slaughterhouses in the city. Now, Benake has said that he will shut down all legal and illegal slaughterhouses in the city and also added that he would make it his priority.

Earlier, before the elections, the BJP had protested over the illegal slaughter houses and cold storages in the city and had alleged that they were being run by then MLA Feroz Sait.

Meanwhile, Belagavi (South) MLA Abhay Patil said that the development of city had been disrupted for the last five years and added that it would be resumed now. He said that the works under the smart city project, developing heritage park at Vaccine Dept, construction of Ballari Nala dam and Shivachitra project, the 24×7 drinking water scheme would all be made a priority.

MP Suresh Angadi said that Belagavi developed only when B.S. Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minister. Despite him not being the CM, he assured that the city will be developed under the Smart City project of the central government.
