Mangaluru: The opposition and the general public have launched a massive social media campaign against Dakshina Kannada BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for his failure to complete the projects that are underway in the district. It is also being said that Nalin’s own party members have involved in this campaign.

‘Nalin Kumar Kateel Hatao’ is the name of the campaign in which the netizens have expressed much opposition to the MP. The much-delayed Pumpwell flyover project which was launched 8 years ago has attracted the most opposition.

It is being said that BJP supporters themselves have opposed Nalin to be the MP candidate. They have also requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to field him for polls.

Online poll

Netizens have conducted an online poll asking people if they wanted a new candidate or Nalin Kumar as the next MP. The outcome of the poll suggests that most netizens preferred a new candidate instead of the present MP who has failed to deliver promises during his 10 years tenure as MP.

Even BJP supporters are pretty unhappy with the performance of Nalin as an MP, particularly in his failure to complete the two key flyover projects at Pumpwell and Thokkottu. Nalin Kumar Kateel is not an efficient leader and has become a laughing stock for his recent statements on various issues, they say. Several road mishaps have been occurring in the area due to incomplete road works which has caused much annoyance amongst the general public against the MP.

Protest

After the Congress leaders including former MLA J R Lobo held a protest along with the public against Nalin Kumar Kateel for the delay in two key flyover works and after facing criticism from various corners, the MP had recently assured that the works will be completed by next January.
