Hubballi: Chief Minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai visited Hubballi on Thursday and paid homage to the Samadhi of his parents, father S R Bommai and mother Gangamma Bommai, at Amaragola.

On his first visit to his hometown after swearing-in as the chief minister, Bommai said that he would make efforts to develop infrastructure and industries in the twin cities, after taking recommendations from Union minister Pralhad Joshi, senior leader Jagadish Shettar among others.

Speaking to the reporters, Bommai said, ” I will visit Delhi tomorrow to get the blessings of  PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and J P Nadda. I will not discuss cabinet expansion with leaders in New Delhi in the first meeting. Within two-three days, I will meet them again to discuss cabinet formation after which ministers will be picked.”

Reacting to CM Jagadish Shettar’s refusal to be part of the Bommai-led cabinet, Bommai said, “I have known Shettar even before we joined politics. We have enjoyed cordial relations even when we were in different parties. I spoke to him on Thursday and conveyed that I would meet in person and discuss the issue. Also,  I will convey this to higher-ups in the party and the issue will be resolved.”

Soon after landing in Hubballi, he was greeted by his supporters at the airport. He then headed to ‘Keshav Kunj’ and met senior RSS functionaries led by ‘Akhil Bharat Vyvastha Pramukh’ Mangesh Bhende and others.

Bommai also garlanded the bust of RSS founder Keshav Hedgewar and then offered floral tributes to a portrait of ‘Bharat Mata’. He then proceeded to Karwar from Hubballi for the inspection of the flood-hit areas.
