Mysuru: In order to defeat BJP in the Rajya Sabha polls, Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday has offered to trade the second preference votes with the Congress.
Speaking to the reporters, Kumaraswamy said,” Our agenda is to defeat the BJP. If Congress agrees to cast their second preference votes in favour of JD(S) candidate D Kupendra Reddy, the JD(S) MLAs will cast their second preference votes in favour of Congress’ second candidate Mansoor Ali Khan.”
“I and my father HD Deve Gowda have spoken to senior leaders of Congress. We told them that JDS will not withdraw its candidates but is ready to cooperate in defeating the third party. Talks are still on,” he added.
Earlier reports claimed that while DK Shivakumar hoped for an alliance between JDS and Congress, Siddaramaiah had opposed the move.
