Karnataka gets ready for single-phase elections

Bengaluru: The State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has updated the Election Commission of India about the Karnataka’s preparations for holding elections to the Legislative Assembly in a single phase. The final decision will be taken by the election commission after assessing the state with all the infrastructures related to the elections.
The state is assured to have adequate number of personnel and poll machineries for conducting the elections. Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha, along with five other members of the EC, visited the State few days ago and went through the preparations in the State for the Assembly elections after holding meetings with Chief Secretary Ratna Prabha and other main police officials.
The last date to submit applications for corrections and additions to the voter’s list has been extended till January 22. The final voter’s list is scheduled to be published on February 27.
The last time when Karnataka went for single phase election was on 5th May, 2013.
