The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) reported a 36.3% increase in total sales to 1,44,981 units in June as against 1,06,394 units in the year-ago month. Domestic sales stood at 1,35,662 units, up 45.5% from 93,263 units in June last year, MSI said.

Exports in June this year dropped by 29% to 9,319 units as compared with 13,131 units in the same month last year, MSI said.

Tata Motors posted a 54% jump in domestic sales to 56,773 units in June. The company had sold 36,836 units in the domestic market during the same month last year, Tata Motors said in a BSE filing.

It registered a strong growth of 64% in its domestic sales for the April-June quarter of FY2019 at 164,579 units as compared with 1,00,141 units in the same quarter a year earlier, helped by continued strong month-on-month sales performance of its commercial and passenger vehicles business in the domestic market, the company said.

The company’s sales from exports last month stood at 5,246 units, up 50% over 3,504 units in June 2017.

Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) reported a 26% increase in total sales to 45,155 units in June. It had sold 35,759 units in the same month previous year, M&M said in a statement.

In the domestic market, sales were up 23% to 41,689 units last month, compared with 33,904 units in June 2017. Exports also registered a growth of 87% at 3,466 units as against 1,855 units in the year-ago month.

“This growth is driven by both our commercial and personal vehicles portfolio,” Rajan Wadhera, president, automotive sector, M&M Ltd., said.

Honda Cars India (HCIL) reported a 37.5% increase in its domestic sales to 17,602 units in June on account of strong sales of all new Amaze. The company had sold 12,804 units in the domestic market in June 2017, HCIL said in a statement.

HCIL also exported 486 units during the month.
