Mangaluru: Two factions of the party resorted to fighting out in the open, during the Congress party’s programme to celebrate 76th anniversary of Quit India movement outside Town Hall in Mangalore, on Thursday, August 9th.
It is said that Congress Youth Wing President Mithun Rai attacked Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Mangalore South President Punith Shetty. The latter has been admitted to a hospital.
“Rai is jealous of me and hence may have resorted in this unruly manner. He is involved in many criminal activities. People do not have good opinion about him. He is functioning like an autocrat in youth Congress. Youth are not happy with his leadership. So senior leaders should take necessary steps,” said Shetty.
Mr. Shetty also mentioned that he has been receiving threats and that the police had not provided him security. He will be registering a case against the Youth Wing leader, he added.
