Mangaluru: Not wearing a mask ? Be ready to pay heavy fines

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Dr K V Rajendra informed that from Monday, October 5, people who are caught without masks in public places will have to pay heavy fines.

The district administration has decided to implement the government orders pertaining to coronavirus control strictly and Dr K V Rajendra has already instructed the officials imposed a heavy fine.

As per the government’s order people not wearing masks within the limits of the city corporations will be fined Rs 1,000 while the fine amount is Rs 500 in all other places. The fine levied so far was Rs 200.

Speaking to Udayavani City corporation commissioner, Akshay Shridhar, said that the increased fine would be levied within the corporation limits from Monday.

Meanwhile, in Udupi, Additional deputy commissioner of the district, Sadashiva Prabhu, said that revised fine has come into effect in the district, and from Sunday itself, a fine of Rs 500 was imposed for not wearing of masks.
