Cash for Vote: FIR Lodged against Congress Leader Laxmi Hebbalkar

Chamarajanagar: A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Congress leader and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Women’s unit president Laxmi Hebbalkar at Gundlupet police station here on Saturday for allegedly distributing cash in Gundlupet constituency earlier this week.

The constituencies of Gundlupet and Nanjangud will witness by-elections on Sunday.

As per reports, Laxmi Hebbalkar was allegedly distributing money at Hennur amid election campaign in the above mentioned constituencies.

A video released on Thursday, allegedly contains visuals of Hebbalkar distributing cash to a voter. Sources say that the video was shot secretly and was made public later.

Meanwhile, the BJP has urged the state government to conduct an investigation with regard to the video released.
