Bengaluru: Congress leader, Lok Sabha M. Mallikarjun Kharge has said that the Congress will support the government’s decision to declare an ordinance of death sentence to rape of minors.

Addressing the media here, he said that laws imposing strict punishment for the accused were already in place and the government was citing rapes in Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh as a reason for the Ordinance.

Kharge said that the Congress party will support any law that would help protect and safe guard children, women, and Dalits.

Kharge also mentioned that, “PM Modi has been silent over repeated attacks on the Dalits, PM is busy travelling to different countries when his country is facing trouble,” he added.
