Horatti resigns as Legislative Council Chairman; all set to join BJP on May 17

Bengaluru: Basavaraja Horatti tendered his resignation to the post of Karnataka Vidhana Parishad Chairman and the membership of the Legislative Council.
He made the announcement of his resignation at a news conference at the Vidhana Soudha.
People picked me to be their representative to the state legislature for seven terms, he said and thanked them for their continued faith in him.
He denied the rumors that he was quitting JD(S) for the sake of winning elections. “I am confident that I can win elections being a member of any party, even as an independent candidate. I am not changing the political party for the sake of power,” he said and added that there was no need for people to worry about his future.
Horatti also thanked JD(S) Supremo Deve Gowda for giving him the chance to represent the party for so long.
As per sources, Horatti will join the BJP on May 17.
