JD(S) will Hold Sate-Wide Padayatra Urging Govt to Waive Farmers’ Loan: HDK

Mandya: If the state and union governments fail to waive farmers’ loans, the JD(S) will hold a state-wide padayatra urging both the governments to fulfill our demand in view of the increasing number farmers’ suicides as they were unable to repay farm loans, said Karnataka state JD(S) president HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday evening.
Kumaraswamy was addressing the media in Mandya during a visit to deceased farmer H J Shivanna’s house. The JD(S) leader gave Rs 1 lakh to the farmer’s family and assured them of his support to the children with regard to pursuing higher education and employment.
“We will wait till May-end and if the governments fail to fulfill our demand, a Padayatra will be held,” he said.
Repeating his commitment towards waiving off loans, he assured those gathered that he would fulfill his promise of waving off farm loans if his party came to power during the next Assembly elections.
