Kaup: Family of 37-yo brain dead man donates his organs

The family of a 37-year-old man, who was declared brain dead following a fatal accident that took place on Wednesday, decided to donate his organs.

Prashant, a resident of Udayavar sustained grievous head injuries after being hit by a truck when he was returning home from work. He was immediately taken to Manipal Hospital for treatment.

Prashant did not respond to the treatment and doctors declared him brain dead on Thursday morning. His family consented to donate his organs thus saving the lives of others.

Prashant’s kidney and liver were retrieved and safely transported to recipients in Mangaluru and Bengaluru.

A case has been registered against the truck driver for the accident.
