Karnataka: CEO warns of consequences for firms denying voting day off

Team Udayavani, Apr 15, 2024, 10:12 AM IST

The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, Manoj Kumar Meena, has announced that the government has already declared holidays on April 26 and May 7, the days of voting in the state.

This decision aims to promote higher voter turnout.

Meena emphasized that failure to provide holidays on these voting days by private firms would result in action taken in accordance with the Labour Act.

In addition to government initiatives, efforts are being made to engage private companies, particularly those in the IT sector. CEOs and management teams are being urged to actively encourage their employees to participate in the electoral process.
