Sirsi: In the early hours of Sunday, April 22, Member of Parliament Anant Kumar Hegde received multiple calls from anonymous numbers.

The first call was made to his mobile from a +4044 number at 2:17 AM. The Minister did not pick it up suspecting it was an internet call. The next two calls were made to his landline from the number 004044000. Both times, his wife Roopa answered. The caller spoke in Hindi asking Mrs. Roopa to identify herself. He then proceeded to disconnect the call.

The third call was made to his landline which Mr Hegde picked up himself. As soon as he identified as being Anant Kumar Hegde himself, the caller threatened to kill him. The threat was followed by a series of abuses by the caller. Mr Hegde ended up disconnecting the call this time.

Mr Hegde’s personal assistant, Suresh Govind filed a complaint with the Sirsi police on Sunday, April 22 at around 6:10 PM.
