​Teacher arrested for kissing student

Mysuru : A physical education teacher in Mysuru was arrested on Tuesday, January 13, after a class 9 student of private institute in north Mysuru accused him of kissing her on the school campus in Kurimandi locality.  

The accused is Surendra  (25) a resident of Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district.

According to the complaint filed by the girl's parents, Suresh kissed their daughter when she was playing at the school ground during physical education period on Monday, January 12.
Inspector Ganesh Prasad said the police have conducted background check of Surendra to ascertain if the teacher has any criminal record. “So far we have not found anything, but will continue our probe,” he said.

The police have also registered case against private school secretary Vishwa Aradhya and headmistress Ayesha Jabeen  under POCSO Act 2012 for not informing the police about the incident, trying to suppress the incident and also allowing Surendra to go with just a warning.

Surendra has been booked under various provisions of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 and has been handed over to judicial custody.
