Mysuru : An ancient tunnel was discovered while laying new sewer drains at Vishwamanava Park at Gun House circle in Mysuru.
The tunnel is believed to be 150-years-old and 5-5.5 feet in height. The tunnel constructed using bricks and lime mortar has a space upto 10-15 feet to walk freely. Interestingly another put was also traced near the tunnel.

According to a retired professor of Department of Ancient History and Archaeology, University of Mysore N S Rangaraju, the tunnel could have been built for the purpose of storage, drainage connection or to transport weapons to the nearby Gun House from the palace.
Last year, two pits were discovered near Gun House. The Archaeology Department officials who inspected them said they were manholes.
